has worked with populations suffering the effects of trauma
in Mexico and Central America since the mid-1990's. While

Dr. Adler created the first program offering such training in
1996, working with a pioneering group of women from Mexico and Central
America. The history of ACT traces the evolution of that program
into the founding of the ACT Institute as the training division
of The International Institutes for Hypnosis, Trauma Training and
Research, AC, headquartered in Mexico City.
Recently, Dr. Adler has applied this body of knowledge to training
United States therapists in how to respond to trauma caused by terrorism,
both personally and in their practice. He views this as essential
in an environment that has to include terrorism as a possibility
of life in the US, following the attacks of September 11, 2001.
A practitioner for 39 years, Dr. Adler holds a Ph.D. in psychology, diplomate post-traumatic stress, MA in Social Psychology and Medical Sociology is a Senior Control
Psychoanalyst, and is trained in the use of 12 different therapeutic
modalities.
Dr. Adler is one of a very few professionals who are placing a
focus on the integration of various therapeutic modalities with
each other and into a cross-cultural background. His objective is
to make them effective without interfering with a patient's own
heritage and culture.
Dr. Adler has taught in Europe, Asia, Central America and South
America as well as the United States. He maintains a private practice
in New York City. Dr. Adler resides in New York City and Cuernavaca,
Mexico.
