TRANSFERRING THE ACT KNOWLEDGE BASE

In Mexico and South America trauma treatment training has been effective because it not only teaches the trainers, who work in the clinics but Healthcare practitioners in the field who treat the populations. ACT has programs that work in very short periods of time for health care professionals to begin to alleviate the major effects of trauma. ACT has programs to help educate parents how to help their children cope with trauma. There is a lack of programs in the United States that can go into the school system and educate teachers, parents and children so that they can reduce the traumatic effect of terrorism, sniper attacks, and school shootings. All new phenomena in the US but we have learned much from our work in Mexico, Central and South America with the addition of kidnapping where violence and terrorism in various forms have been active for many years.
