TREATMENT COORDINATION FOR POLICE & FIRE FIGHTERS

The police, fire fighters and emergency workers undergo constant traumatization when they see a person die or when they pull somebody from a burning building or car crash. For example in New York City, primarily the police department, and secondarily the fire department makes psychological services available to police and firefighters. At the moment there is a lack of coordinating the treatment and range of treatment available that takes the trauma into consideration and integrates treatment. This is particularly relevant to those providing treatment for people who were working at ground zero, people who lived there and are still living there.
